French Oak Scrub Top Refectory Dining Table, c1850. An excellent & sturdy antique solid oak 6ft refectory table, circa 1850, from the Dordogne region of France, in original condition. The chunky tabletop, which is constructed of solid oak, has been built using the traditional peg and joined construction method and consists 5 solid planks within a sectional boarded frame.
The table is supported by four elegant gun barrel legs, which are joined a substantial and beautifully patinated stretcher. The tabletop and base are original. The tabletop features a lovely mellow chestnut oak colour, with a scrub top style finish. The table will seat up to 8 people.It is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table. The table boasts a lovely scrub oak colour. It is a sought after design, which makes it an excellent practical furnishing piece in either the kitchen or dining room.
