Antique C19th French Hand Warmer Muff C1870
A c19th French hand warmer, c1870 in the form of what can only be described as an over sized pocket watch. On one side the initials J.
G are stamped, surrounded by instructions on how to use the device. These basically translate to boiling the device for a maximum of 10 minutes. I placed it in boiling water for 7 minutes and it retained its heat for around 5 hours. It was originally plated to imitate gold but over the years most of this has rubbed off.
