A large and beautiful antique French Victorian chandelier comprising of ormolu and crystal dating to circa 1870. The chandelier having two tiers of slender branches; the top tier hung with'Albert' drop prisms. The second tier hung with'diamond' shaped drops. The central ormolu stem issuing 6 arms in original condition to be used with candles, the drip pans hung with'Albert' drops and linked to each other with octagonal'diamond' shaped drops. To the base of the chandelier an array of'slab' type drops adorn the branches with further'diamond' shaped drops.
The chandelier is completed with a'bell' formed multi-faceted finial. Whilst the main branches of the chandelier are in original condition to be used with candles, an internal electrification has been undertaken meaning the the top of the chandelier can be used with bulbs. When the light/ sunlight hits the room, the chandelier makes beautiful colours of the rainbow due to the high led content in the drops. The chandelier is in excellent original condition with no damage. There are however signs of age and usage. 70 cm high x 50 cm wide. Please ask any questions that you may have.
