French mantel clock, circa 1860. A mid 19th century ormolu and bronze clock dating to circa 1860. The clock is formed in the Rococo style and features a finely dressed gentleman standing next to a galloping horse and running dog surmounted on the clock drum. The dial with hand painted Roman Numerals and moon phase hands. The front elevation of the base features repousse.

Work with, shells, scroll work and floral garlands. The original mechanism is present without modification. The clock features a twin train 8 day mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a bell. The clock is regulated by a count wheel.

The mechanism is stamped'Japy Freres Medal Of Honour'. Japy Freres were one of the most prolific and important clock makers of the 19th century. 37 cm high x 40 cm wide. Please note, the clock does show signs of age and usage. The gilding retains a good colour.
