It is unusual and crafted from hair as a lasting memento of a lost loved one. Set under a domed convex glass and housed within an ebonized wooden frame with brass surround.

In overall good antique condition with some wear to the wooden frame. This was made with the inscription - "Souvenir de nos chers Parents"- Souvenir of our dear Parents - written on a parchment-like paper on a brun velvet background.

This item was have been a keepsake intended to exist throughout a lifetime, much the same as a photograph today would be.
