A fine Le Roy et fils. French Boulle mantel clock, circa 1850. An exceptional quality and rare example of an antique French Napoleon III boulle clock featuring the most luxurious boulle work comprising of ormolu, shell, ebonised wood and bronze. The clock demonstrates the finest quality of craftsmanship in chased and patinated ormolu and bronze.

The central drum case with enamel dial featuring Roman numerals protected by a fine ormolu bezel with beaded rim and bevelled glass door, surrounded by an ancient Greek mask with garlands and is surmounted by an ormolu and bronze acorn finial. Beneath the clock drum is a glass panel allowing the pendulum to be viewed whilst swinging. The original twin train movement is present without modification featuring a silk suspension thread pendulum.

The eight day movement is regulated by a countwheel, and strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The bell, pendulum and winding key are present. The mechanism is stamped by the highly regarded and one of the most important 18th/ 19th century clock manufacturers. The clock come complete with the original bell, winding key and pendulum. 38 cm high x 21 cm wide.

Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a good colour. The inlay is all in tact and in good condition. The mechanism has recently been cleaned and serviced.
