Antique French Victorian 18ct Rose Gold Dormeuses Star Earrings

Lovely traditional pair of antique French 18ct Rose Gold Star motif Dormeuses Earrings with hinged front fastening fittings for pierced ears. The Star motif is 10 mm diameter, with a 1.5 mm Pearl. Hallmarked with the regional French Horses Head for 18 ct Gold and an old makers mark. The Earrings are of average size fittings with a total height of 16 mm.

7 x 13mm internal measurement within the hinge so will fit most regular small - medium size ears. The star motif is really nicely detailed with 1.5 mm gold beads and is an important symbol of identity in the South of France especially Provence. The Earrings will be posted in a new mini storage container for a safe trip. These original antique Earrings have a lovely rose tone and a surprising amount of detail is added to a relatively simple design to give a rounded layered effect.
