Antique French Victorian 18ct Rose Gold flat Almandine Garnet Dormeuses Earrings

Exceptional antique French 18ct Rose Gold large 16mm (5/8) diameter Dormeuses Earrings with front fastening hinged fittings for pierced ears. The pink -mauve stones are natural almandine garnets cut with a flat top fashionable in Georgian pieces. They are beautifully bright with some natural colour variation. They are 4-5 mm diameter and set into a chequerboard design spaced with textured gold domes. Hallmarked with the French Eagle's Head for 18ct Gold and an old heraldic style makers mark.

Total length of Earring 23 mm (almost 1). Very large fittings -internal hinges measures 20 x 10 mm so will fit any ear size. The stones are each held separately in a dahlia floral whorl setting joined together to create the openwork design with spacing between each stone for a lightweight delicate appearance.

A plain polished bevel edged frame adds strength to the construction. Very luminous and uplifting - full of Victorian style details. Will be posted in a new small craft storage box for a safe journey.
