ANTIQUE FRENCH VICTORIAN MOURNING HAIR ART CONVEX GLASS FRAME RELIQUARY 1896. An antique French Napoleon III era sentimental hair artwork mourning memento. It is unusual and crafted from hair as a lasting memento of a lost loved one. Set under a domed convex glass and housed within an ebonized wooden frame with brass surround. In overall good antique condition with some wear to the wooden frame, one piece of hair is against the glass inside.
Everything is original, nothing has been opened in this beautiful frame. This very beautiful piece was created with brown hair, strands of hair rolled, pansies and forget-me-nots with a cross in the center. Below there is an inscription. On the back there is the following inscription.
