ANTIQUE LARGE FRENCH VICTORIAN MOURNING HAIR ART CONVEX GLASS FRAME RELIQUARY 1869. An antique French Napoleon III era sentimental hair artwork mourning memento. It is unusual and crafted from hair as a lasting memento of a lost loved one. Set under a domed convex glass and housed within an ebonized wooden frame with brass surround.

In overall good antique condition with some wear to the wooden frame. This beautiful piece was created with brown hair, strands of hair rolled up, one crucifix with initials MM- dated from December 22, 1869 to 73 years old, then widow Ynesson. This item was have been a keepsake intended to exist throughout a lifetime, much the same as a photograph today would be.
