18k gold, silver, emerald and rose-cut diamonds. Made in France 19th century. Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman.
Measurements: Weight is 10.1 grams. US size 6 (can be resized). Description : Broad rectangular emerald is the central element and main feature of this ring. The emerald is of a lovely deep green, transparent color with minor inclusions. Held aloft in gold pronged mount.
In shape and centrality, it is much like French signet rings of the period. Alongside, forming the shoulders are a pair of fleurs de lys set with rose-cut diamonds. As was the custom during the 19th century, diamonds were set in gold to show them off to better effect in gaslight. At the base of the shoulders are tiny protruding gold balls. A very sturdy, plain gold shank. The ring has a very strong and bold design and is suitable to be worn by either a man or a woman. Marks and Metal: French marks for 18k gold and silver on the outside of the shank. One is the swan for silver and the other (worn), the owl. Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. The ring could do with a wash, but since many collectors like the'patina' earned over hundreds of years, we are leaving as is.
