A lovely very stylish oil lamp which has had pride of place in the drawing room with it's twin (listed separately). Copper base, black porcelain with white transfers and gold painted lines. It has a dual duplex wick system and milk glass shade. The wicks are 1 wide each. The glass shade just lifts off and on. We have researched this lamp and believe it may be of French origins. We have not fuelled it and lit it, so cannot say whether it is fit to use as a working lamp, but we cannot see any cracks in the vessel, and the screw on stopper fits snug. The wick adjusters and snuffer lever (which clamps the wick so the flame cannot continue) works too. Please see the pics for more detailed condition, and note the 2 cracks in the copper base which have been highlighted. These do no affect use or stability. The shade has no major chips, just a tiny nibble on the top rim and bottom rim. Both rims appear to have been cut and ground so feel a bit rough like ground glass. The porcelain fuel vessel has 2 tiny marks that have occurred during manufacture and were subsequently glazed (see pics). It measures 19.5 inches from base to the top of the chimney. I've included a regular tin of soup for scale only. The shade is 9 inches across on the rim of the base, and 6 3/8 high. The lines are almost certainly 22k gold paint. We have listed the twin to this lamp for sale separately. Please see pics for condition as they help make up part of the description. We have a good reputation for safely packaging delicate items. Please look closely at the pictures because they form part of the description. Sometimes it's the same price, sometimes it isn't. This item is in the category "Collectables\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps".
