The slate casing is in excellent order for its age, with hardly and chipping which is amazing considering the piece's age and size. The dial is flanked on both sides by classical columns in marble. This is an imposing clock in fine antique condition together with its original winding key and when in operation it has a lovely melodious tick and nice subtle chime.All-in-all a very collectable example of a substantial Victorian slate mantel clock, with a great look, superb detailing and in fine condition. The dial has Roman numerals in a brass mount with centre in gilt metal and face that's showing some age-related tarnishing giving it a lovely patina. The glass front cover is in generally good condition for its age. The clock's dimensions are as follows.
Width 16 inches (41cm) - height 19 inches (49cm). And the clock is shown next to a bottle of wine in one of the listing photos to give you an idea of its true size and presence.
