Victorian French Catholic Reliquary Madonna Lourdes Apparitions Pendant Locket

A beautiful antique reliquary pendant locket, c1900. Made in France, the locket case is gilded metal with a watch chain style loop to top for wear on a chain. I believe this would have been brought back as a precious souvenir by someone on a pilgrimage at Lourdes. Features a beautiful coloured image of Bernadette Soubirous (later St Bernadette) kneeling before the 16th apparition of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes (1858). The interior of the locket has two original purple paper liners but there are no frames or glass. Can be used to store a personal memento, relic or photographs. Measurements: 43mm by 26mm (including the loop), with a 6mm depth. In good antique condition, as clearly shown in all the photos. Please do take the time to view them all.
